Red Hot Chili Peppers surprise announcement on brand new studio album ‘Return of the Dream Canteen’

We went in search of ourselves as the band that we have somehow always been. Just for the fun of it we jammed and learned some old songs. Before long we started the mysterious process of building new songs. A beautiful bit of chemistry meddling that had befriended us hundreds of times along the way. Once we found that slip stream of sound and vision, we just kept mining. With time turned into an elastic waist band of oversized underwear, we had no reason to stop writing and rocking. It felt like a dream. When all was said and done, our moody love for each other and the magic of music had gifted us with more songs than we knew what to do with. Well we figured it out. 2 double albums released back to back. The second of which is easily as meaningful as the first or should that be reversed. 'Return of the Dream Canteen' is everything we are and ever dreamed of being. It's packed. Made with the blood of our hearts, yours truly, the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Red Hot Chili Peppers, an American rock band, announced the release of their brand-new studio album, Return of the Dream Canteen, on October 14 via Warner Records. At Denver’s Empower Field, where the North American portion of their critically and commercially popular worldwide stadium tour began, the unexpected announcement was made to a thunderous reception.

Last month, the band began their world stadium tour with their European leg at the Estadio Olimpico de la Cartuja in Seville, Spain, on June 4. The performance served as both the beginning of the band’s first-ever stadium tour and their first performance with guitarist John Frusciante in 15 years.

Following the platinum-selling chart-topper ‘Unlimited Love’, which was released in April, ‘Return of the Dream Canteen’ will be the group’s second album to be released in 2022. It will also be the group’s second album in 2022 to be produced by Rick Rubin, further solidifying their standing as a group at the pinnacle of their abilities and riding an undeniable creative surge.

Red Hot Chili Peppers classics and new fan favourites “Black Summer” and “These are the Ways” from their current number-one album, Unlimited Love, were performed during the Denver concert. As Anthony Kiedis revealed to the unprepared crowd that the band would release another brand-new studio album this year, the sold-out stadium crowd went into raptures.

Red Hot Chili Peppers will continue their North American leg of the tour through California, including a special homecoming show at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, before travelling to Chicago, Toronto, and other cities until closing off in Arlington, Texas, on Sunday, September 18, at Globe Life Field. On a few occasions, the band will be joined by a who’s who of some of the most well-known, influential, and diverse musicians from various genres, including HAIM, Beck, Thundercat, The Strokes, King Princess, St. Vincent, and Post Malone.
