On Friday, Hollywood actress Anne Heche, 53, was proclaimed legally dead. The news arrives a week after she was engaged in a horrific accident in which her automobile collided with a residence in West Los Angeles.

Henche has been in a coma and on life support since August 5, having lost all brain activity. According to a acresses representative, she is now “legally dead under California law.”

Her family, however, has decided to keep her on life support while they investigate opportunities for her to become an organ donor, which had been her long-held ambition.
