After the rumours, the confirmation: Britney Spears will return to the music industry to work with Sir Elton John. Elton himself published what’s been interpreted as the officialization of the news and the title of the song: the English star posted the words ‘Hold me closer,’ accompanied by a rose (which has long been present as a signature on all of Britney’s posts) and a rocket (a symbol dear to the ‘rocket man’).

What is unclear is if the song is unreleased or a cover: fans of the two have, in fact, engaged in the speculations since the line ‘Hold me closer, tiny dancer’ (literally, ‘Hold me closer, little dancer’) appears in Elton John’s 1971 album ‘Madman Across the Water’. However, the wait should not be too long because the song is anticipated to be rereleased on August 12 or 19.

In any case, the news is Spears’ return to music following her release from her father’s legal protection, which lasted 13 years and during which she was unable to freely make decisions regarding her professional activities, finances, and personal life.

The singer’s legal struggle with her father, Jamie Spears, is still ongoing. Last month, a US judge denied Mr Spears’ request that he return to court to address more concerns with the two’s legal arrangements. Spears’ guardianship was created in 2008, following a public psychological crisis for the US pop diva, well known for singles such as ‘Oops I Did It Again!’ and ‘Toxic.’ After her father’s ‘tutoring,’ with which she had constantly voiced her displeasure, the singer married Sam Asghari in an intimate wedding in California in June.
